CALLING ALL GEEKS AND NOT FOR PROFITS

This project is designed to show how connected technologies can help Not for Profit organizations (NFPs) to achieve their aims in a more time and cost effective way. Talent selected on the basis of submitted ideas will be invited  to attend a workshop during ITU Telecom World 2011 where they will work closely with the partner NFP to ensure the developed solution is fit for purpose.

There are two ways to enter the competition:

COME AS A TEAM

Are you a digital innovator who wants to use their knowledge and skills to make the world a better place?

Do you know a NFP organization you would like to help?

Do you have the seeds of a technology-driven idea that would help the NFP to:

  • Achieve their aims more effectively
  • Connect with communities better
  • Find the resource they need to support their project

Do you need resources so you can turn seed idea into reality?

The idea may exploit social networks, data visualisation/distribution, bespoke integrated campaigns, SMS notifications... the possibilities are endless.

If you answered yes to all these questions, enter.

RESPOND TO A BRIEF

The first briefs are below.

Over the next few weeks, partner NFPs will send more briefs and invite data visualisers, information architects and social media experts to generate innovative seed ideas in response to these briefs.

If you answer the challenge of an NGO, please make clear in your application, which brief you are responding to.

Are you working for a Not for Profit that is attempted to alleviate issues relevant to the UN's Millennium Development Goals:

  • alleviating poverty and hunger (including smart agriculture)
  • improving education for all
  • addressing gender inequality
  • access to health care
  • environmental sustainability

....or  addressing universal accessibility challenges?

Do you have a challenge we can help you solve? If so, please mail (manifesto.telecom@itu.int ) with NFP INNOCOMP in the subject line.

Note: we will be unable to cover the cost of the partner NGO travel and accommodation. But we will of course be happy to offer selected NGOs a place at the event.

Deadline: 19 September 2011 (23:59 CET)
